They were included in the top ten list after rectification of their marks

BERHAMPUR: Although belated due to errors of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) of Orissa, two matriculation toppers of the city were honoured at a function by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Satyabrata Sahu on Saturday.

These two students of Ramahari Nagar Saraswati Sishu Vidyamandir of the city, Akankhya Biswal and Ashis Padhi had gone through much mental agony for about a month since the declaration of results by the BSE in June. They as well as their teachers had expected them to be part of the toppers’ list.

But ironically they were not placed in the list due to errors of the BSE. The mark sheets of these students showed that they had secured only 30 marks in a mathematics paper. But their teachers and parents had more confidence on them rather than the BSE.

According to the headmaster of the school, Padmacharan Rath and its teacher Brajabandhu Mandal, they took up the matter with the BSE and at last their efforts won results. Revaluation proved that both these students had received 100 marks each in the mathematics papers in which they were awarded 30 marks.

With increased marks Ashis was placed in the fourth rank while Akankhya got the fifth position.
