SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has named the Directorate of Mountaineering and Allied Sports in Kullu Manali as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports. The former Prime Minister owns a house in Prini village near the institute and he used to come here regularly during summers till some time back.
In another decision, the Cabinet has granted exemption on payment of stamp duty and registration fees on loans to farmers on their mortgage deeds to be executed with financial institutions like nationalised banks, co-operative banks, regional development banks, gramin banks and private banks. The loans should not exceed Rs.10 lakh. The decision is aimed at strengthening the basic agriculture sector and would benefit farmers with incentives valued at over Rs.35 crore.
The Cabinet has also approved allotment of Gondhla (144MW) and Yangthang (261MW) hydro-electric projects to Moser Baer India Limited and Gammon India Limited respectively, for bidding the highest upfront premium of Rs.1,93,54,50,000 for the projects and decided to re-advertise the Bardang (114MW), Tandi (150MW), and Rashil (150MW) hydro-electric projects under the Govt’s revised power policy to attract global competitors to undertake execution work.
