Mumbai: A court here on Wednesday adjourned till Thursday the hearing on the bail plea filed by Marrayya Monica Susayraj, co-accused in the TV production company executive Neeraj Grover murder case.
The hearing was adjourned after her lawyer G. Kannur filed an application before Additional Sessions Judge P. H. Mali with the request that the actress be produced before the court when the bail matter was being argued.
The application was made after the prosecution refused to provide the defence lawyer with a copy of Marrayya’s confessional statement.
Marrayya was arrested with her naval officer friend Jerome Mathew for the murder of Neeraj Grover, creative head in Synergy Adlabs, a TV production house in May.
Marrayya had filed for bail last week claiming that she can only be charged for destruction of evidence, which is a bailable offence.
The prosecution in its reply pointed to the court the circumstantial evidence against Marrayya proving that she can be charged not only for destruction of evidence but also for murder.
Grover was stabbed to death allegedly by Mathew inside Marrayya’s apartment in suburban Malad on May 7 over a suspected love triangle. PTI
