Chief Secretary on leave since Monday
Ranchi: A day after Jharkhand Chief Secretary P. P. Sharma went on leave, the State’s senior IPS officer Amitabh Choudhary, who had sought permission to prosecute him (Mr. Sharma) on graft charges, followed suit on Tuesday, causing a flutter in the State administration.
The Home Department had earlier recommended suspension of Mr. Choudhary, IG (CID), on the charge of selectively leaking to the media a copy of his letter to his superior seeking permission to prosecute corruption charges against Mr. Sharma.
The senior police officer had on Monday submitted his leave application, to be effective from February 26 till March 31, citing personal reasons, official sources said.
The IG’s move followed a similar leave application submitted on Monday by Mr. Sharma who had asked for about a month’s leave citing “personal reasons”, handing over additional charge of the post of Chief Secretary to the Director-General of the Administrative Training Institute, A. K. Basu. - PTI
