Patna: Sleuths of the Bihar vigilance department have arrested the Block Education Extension Officer of Rupauli in Punrea district and the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Balrampur in Bihar’s Katihar district for allegedly accepting bribe.
Indira Awas Yojna
Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance) Neelmani told reporters here on Tuesday that a resident of Kismat Barul village, Yogendra Paswan, had complained to the bureau headquarters that the BDO, Suresh Kumar, was demanding Rs.20,000 at the rate of Rs.2,000 each for clearing the second instalment of the ten houses being constructed under the Indira Awas Yojna under Balrampur block of Purnea district.
Mr. Neelmani said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by Paswan, the bureau laid a trap and caught red-handed the BDO while he was accepting Rs.20,000 from his residence at Purnea.
In yet another trap laid by the vigilance, the Block Education Extension Officer (BEEO) of Rupauli in Bihar’s Purnea district was caught in Teldiha Middle School while allegedly accepting Rs.5,000 from a teacher of the school.
Mr. Neelmani said the BEEO, Chandradeshwar Prasad Yadav, was taken into custody by the vigilance sleuths while accepting bribe from Mageshwar Prasad Mandal, a teacher of the school, for clearing some bills of the mid-day meal scheme.
Mr. Neelmani said that out of 157 vigilance trap cases since August 15 last year, 187 persons including senior government officials had been taken into custody while accepting bribes. - PTI
