He was held at the Army’s 3 EME Centre in Bhopal

He was found in possession of secret and classified documents

He was using an ex-Army man’s card to avail military canteen facility

BHOPAL: A Jhansi resident, arrested from the Army’s 3 EME Centre here and found in possession of secret and classified documents earlier this week, has links with Pakistan and he travelled to that country in the past, police sources said.

The police recovered from him a compact disc, which contains photographs of prohibited areas and a highly confidential list of military units.

Mohammed Naeem, who was arrested under the Official Secrets Act, was interrogated on Friday by the Intelligence Bureau, the Military Intelligence and the special branch of the State police

The investigators were trying to verify the details and entries made in a passport, showing a Jhansi address, seized from Naeem. The passport showed that he had travelled to Pakistan two years ago. He was using an ex-Army man’s card to avail himself of the military canteen facility. He regularly visited Bhopal using a railway pass.

Naeem told the police that during his Bhopal visits, he used to stay in the Sainik Kalyan Board resthouse. Interrogation revealed that an Army officer, stationed in Delhi, was helping him, the sources said.

Naeem was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded to police custody.
