1,400 policemen will be deployed as part of security arrangements during the festival
PUDUCHERRY: Arrangements for the benefit of lakhs of devotees at the ‘sani peyarchi’ festival are in place at the Thirunallar Temple.
According to officials of the temple, there will be three queues, one each for free darshan, Rs. 50 entry and the Rs. 250 entry, to ensure smooth flow of devotee. There will be separate entry and exit points into the temple, in order to prevent the possibility of a stampede occurring. Devotees in the queues would stand under the shade of ‘pandals’, the officials said. Continuous flow of fresh water will be available for Nala Theertham, the officials said.
1,400 policemen will be deployed as part of the security arrangements during the festival. Around 10 to 12 lakh devotees are expected to arrive at Thirunallar, to be a part of the festival, which would begin at 3.27 p.m. on September 26. All India Radio would cover the festival live, the officials added.
The temples, as well as non-governmental organisations have also scheduled ‘annadanams’ as part of the festivities.
