Anil Kant, famous gospel singer, to be the main attraction
BERHAMPUR: Preparations are in final stages for a two day spiritual music festival for Christmas, which would be inaugurated in the Berhampur stadium on Thursday.
Christians of the city have got united to organise this cultural festival that would precede the Christmas celebrations. Leaders of different Christian sects and Churches in the city like the Catholics, Baptists, Anglican Church and Protestants have come together to organise the two-day Christian Mahotsav-2009 on Thursday and Friday. Coordinator of this festival Daniel Das said participants from Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts would take part in this festival. The main attraction of this festival of Christian spiritual music would be Anil Kant, who has created a niche in gospel music. Apart from being a famous gospel singer Mr Kant is also a lyricist and music composer. He would be performing in Berhampur for the first time. According to the organisers, his music would attract the youth as well as the aged as he has a typical style of fusion of modern beats with Indian melodies.
Different youth choirs of south Orissa would also perform in this festival. The organisers disclosed the details of the festival at a press meet in the city on Tuesday . Rev. P.S. Nag and Father Ajit Kumar Nayak were also present. According to them it was a festival to unite the Christians of the region and to pass on the message of peace to all communities before the Christmas celebration.
As per the organisers this cultural festival would be open for people of all communities.
