PUDUCHERRY: Seventeen activists belonging to the Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Hindu Munnani and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad were arrested on Saturday for attempting to degrade Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in protest against his remarks on Ramar Sethu.

The Grand Bazaar Police said the activists were picked up from near a place of worship on Mahatma Gandhi Road. The arrested include president of the Puducherry unit of the BJP M. Vishweswaran.
