Ganjam district administration initiated strong action against 10 government officials for their negligence in relief and restoration work in Phailin cyclone affected areas.
According to official sources, Ganjam district Collector has suspended eight Village Level Workers (VLW) posted in different areas of the district. Official enquiry had proved that they had not shown proper seriousness towards their duty related to relief and restoration work after the natural calamity. These VLWs included two from Hinjli block, one from Sorada block, two from Purushottampur block, one from Khallikote block and two from Jagannathprasad block.
Similarly, a senior clerk posted in Dharakote block, Jagdish Panigrahy has also been suspended by the administration for the same reason.
A junior engineer posted in Sorada block, Subash Chandra Swain has been suspended and the Collector has also directed the Sorada Block Development Officer (BDO) to file case in the local police station against Swain under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA).
A Gram Rozagar Sevak (GRS), Chandrakant Tripathy, posted at Aladi panchayat of Jagannathprasad block has been dismissed from services. The district administration has also recommended the State panchayatiraj department to suspend an assistant engineer, L.N.Samantray, posted in Aska block. Till now two doctors posted in Ganjam district have been suspended for negligence to their duty. Eight other doctors have been issued show cause notices for same reason.
