Gajapati Smruty Sansad observed the second death anniversary of noted social activist of Rayagada district Krushna Chandra Bauxipatra in the city on Monday.

During the meeting discussions were held regarding the personality and works of Krushna Chandra. Members of the organisation discussed how Odia culture, language, and tradition could be protected in areas bordering other States in south Odisha. They urged the State government to keep a watch on an alleged conspiracy to fan up demand for formation of a new State comprising areas of south Odisha, Chhatisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Activists of the organisation were too critical of approach of the Andhra Pradesh government towards Odisha. They criticised the Andhra Pradesh government for placing Mahendragiri hill in Gajapati district as part of Andhra it in its website.

Leader of the organisation Prahlad Panda said due to inaction of leaders of Odisha Andhra Pradesh was taking up water resource projects at the cost of interests of people of Odisha.

According to the organisation, at present traders and entrepreneurs from Andhra Pradesh were being promoted in south Odisha by the State government for some unknown reason. “It is a hindrance to the growth of Odia entrepreneurs”, Mr Panda said.

The organisation demanded action against administrative officials who are allegedly promoting Andhra Pradesh based entrepreneurs to establish polluting stone crusher units, brick kilns or cashew nut processing units. Cashew processing units established by Andhra entrepreneurs are using polluting technology which is banned in their State, they said.
