PUDUCHERRY: Pattali Makkal Katchi member R.K.R. Anantharaman said on Monday that the incidents of murder and theft were on the increase in Puducherry and urged the government to take appropriate action to nab the criminals.
Raising the issue during the zero hour in the Assembly, he said the increase in the number of crimes had created fear among the public. A. Anbalagan (AIADMK) said that an IAS officer of the District Rural Development Agency had resigned recently. As per the rules, IAS officers should handover the resignation letter to the Union Home Ministry through the Lieutenant Governor.
In this case, the officer had given the letter to the Chief Minister, he said, adding that the letter should be presented to the Speaker and the contents made known to the members.
