JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government's Urban Development Department has selected 81 towns across the State for preparation of master plans during 2010-11 after the completion of the similar exercise for eight of the 20 towns selected in the previous year. The draft master plans for the rest of these cities are likely to be formulated by May 30.
State Principal Urban Development Secretary G. S. Sandhu said at a review meeting here over the weekend that the consultants preparing the master plans would visit the respective towns and explain their salient features to distinguished citizens and representatives of community, trade and social organisations. The citizens' suggestions would be incorporated into the master plans on priority, he added.
Mr. Sandhu said the draft master plans for Bhawanimandi, Rawatbhata, Amet, Newai, Ladnun, Kuchaman, Nohar and Sanchore had been finalised. He emphasised the need for reflecting people's expectations and aspirations for their cities in the master plans.
According to an official release here, Mr. Sandhu said the notification inviting proposals for preparation of master plans for the towns selected this year would be issued by June 15. This will be followed by an invitation to the public to send in suggestions and objections.
Among others, Local Self Secretary R. Venkateshwaran, Local Self Bodies Director Joga Ram, Chief Town Planner A. K. Pandey and officers of the Jaipur Development Authority attended the meeting.
