DEHRA DUN: Twenty-seven persons were killed and 30 injured in two different mishaps in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Twenty-two persons were killed and 23 injured when the bus they were travelling in from Rishikesh to Tehri rolled down the hill at Tachila in Narender Nagar area around 10 a.m. The injured were rushed to hospital in Narender Nagar.

In another pre-dawn mishap, five persons were killed and seven injured when the jeep they were travelling in from Mussoorie to Dehra Dun rolled into a deep khud at Kolhu Khet around 4-15 a.m. The injured have been admitted to Doon Hospital.

Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs.50,000 each to the next of kin of those killed and Rs.25,000 each to the seriously injured.
