Muktsar: Around 25 ad hoc teachers were injured when the police used water canons to disperse them while they were heading towards Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s village Badal in the district on Sunday.
The protesters first staged a demonstration at Lambi, the constituency of the Chief Minister, and later proceeded towards the village.
When they reached Kheowali village on Lambi road, police stopped them and used mild force to disperse them. In the melee, two policemen also received injuries.
Gurvinder Singh, who was leading the protest, said that the Badal government had failed to fulfil its promise made ahead of assembly polls to regularise their appointment.
‘Government must withdraw cases’
He demanded that the government should also withdraw cases registered against protesting ad hoc teachers at Bathinda on October 11.
