: Eleven Maoists surrendered before Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Akhileswar Singh on Tuesday.

They included one Maoist cadre and ten militia members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) organisation.

According to Malkangiri SP, the surrendered naxalites were involved in the murder of two civilians from adjoining Andhra Pradesh. Suspecting their victims to be police informers they had killed civilians Sana and Rama Rao of Ramarapalli of East Visakha area of Andhra Pradesh. All of them were involved in cases of torching of vehicles. They were also involved in Maoist operation to blast and damage iron ore slush pipeline and establishments of Essar group near Chitrakonda in 2010.

The surrendered Maoist included the female Maoist cadre Kokili Golari (19) from Tekguda colony were Puyu Khora (38) of Dondalgondhi village under Papermetla police station, Pullu Pangi (29) of Dondalgondhi village, Rangana Buttari (40) of Singaram, Macchilingam Buttari (35) of Paparmetla police station area, Prasad Rao Kusangi (31) of Singaram, Hota Itte (25) of Tallal vilaeg of Chitrakonda police station area, Chinabadi Enteing (35)of Tallal, Ramanna Thamarbi (35) of village Chittam Chilka, Sahadeb Thamarbi (40) of Chittam Chilka and Rama Rao Duri (30) of Chittam Chilka.

It may be noted that series of surrender of Maoists is continuing in Malkangiri district since past few months. A dozen Maoists, including five women, had surrendered before Malkangiri SP on Oct 4. Till now, over 60 Maoists have surrendered in Malkangiri district. A large number of them were from cut off area of Balimela reservoir, which was considered a Maoist stronghold.

Increased area domination by security forces in Maoist dominated areas was also a reason behind their surrender. Killing of 13 Maoists in an exchange of fire with security forces at Silakota in the district in September has also been a reason behind increase in surrenders.

As per the Malkangiri SP, all surrendered Maoists would be rehabilitated as per the policy for rehabilitation of the Government.

Till now, over 60 Maoists have surrendered in Malkangiri district
