The police used a mild cane-charge and water cannons to disperse Uttarakhand Youth Congress workers from forcing their way towards the Chief Minister's official residence here on Wednesday. A few persons including Bhawan Kapri, president of the Naini Tal parliamentary constituency Youth Congress wing were injured.

Visibly agitated at the use of water cannons and the lathi-charge, State youth congress president Anand Singh Rawat wondered what Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri meant by suppressing the peaceful march when he was advocating the principles of Anna Hazare to woo voters.

Mr. Khanduri should first initiate action on the large-scale corruption that has taken place under the BJP Governments in the State and then seek votes as ‘Mr. Clean', he said.

The rally from Parade Grounds to the Chief Minister's residence is seen as the rejuvenation of the Youth Congress that had been dormant over the years.
