The partly disrobed body of a young girl, with hands tied up and face burnt and disfigured beyond recognition, was found in an open plot at Vijay Vihar in Outer Delhi on Thursday morning. The body has not been identified so far.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain whether the victim had been raped before being murdered.

According to the police, a call was received around 10 a.m. that a body was lying near the Lal Quarters in Vijay Vihar following which a team was sent to the spot.

“There were no clothes on the top half of the body. There were strangulation marks around the neck. It appeared she was murdered somewhere else and the body dumped as no blood marks were seen close to it,” said a senior police officer.

The girl had several tattoos on different parts of her body and had had tattooed her name on her arm.

“The attackers disfigured all the tattoos so as to prevent the body from being identified,” said the officer.

A case has been registered and the body has been sent for post mortem to determine the exact cause and time of death.
