Will help doctors remain updated about changing trends in medical treatment

NEW DELHI: Doctors at the country’s premier medical institution, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, have been working and waiting for this one for long. Now finally all hostels at the Institute will have free Internet wireless connectivity within one month. “In one month’s time all hostels will be having free Internet wireless connectivity. The final order has been placed and soon over 400 medical journals and Internet will be available at just the click of the mouse,” said AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association president Kumar Harsh.

Keeping in mind the need for doctors to remain updated about changing trends in medical treatment and keep up with the research in the field, AIIMS had agreed to provide the facility to its doctors. “In a competitive world, doctors need to be updated with the latest information that will eventually help the patients. We are sure that the facility when started will also help those who are part of the various ongoing research teams at the Institute,” added Dr. Harsh.

An AIIMS RDA member said: “This has been a longstanding demand of the students and resident doctors. The system will be of great help to our educational institution and will most certainly aid in promoting better research and in the long run improved patient care. Our experience will also serve as an example for other medical institutes to follow. The new initiative will allow resident doctors and medical students to access, read and study medical journals from the comfort of their hostels without having to leave the Institute premises.”
