With onion prices soaring in the Capital once again, the Delhi BJP wants to know where the 600 onion stalls set up the Delhi Government are.
Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel who undertook a “village padyatra” in Shahbad-Daulatpur area on Wednesday said: “Onions are selling at Rs. 70-80 per kilogram in retail markets and the stalls claimed to have been put up by the Delhi Government to sell cheaper onions are hardly visible on the ground.”
The party also termed the Central Government’s policy of allowing export of onions in huge quantities “beyond logical comprehension”, especially as the produce was sent out at a time when people were suffering due to unprecedented food inflation. The Delhi BJP has also asked all its councillors and MLAs in Delhi to put up stalls to provide onions at affordable rates to the common people.
