Rainfall

Cold day conditions are prevailing in some parts of Punjab and Haryana and in isolated pockets of Rajasthan Rainfall : Rain/snow has occurred at most places over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at many places over Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Rajasthan. The chief amounts of precipitations in cm are: HARYANA: Narayanagarh 10, Morni 5, Bilaspur and Chhachhrauli 4 each, Jagadhari and Sadhaura 3 each, Chandigarh, Karnal, Hodal, Panchkula, Raipurrani and Kalka 2 each and Ambala Airport, Hissar, New Delhi (Palam and Safdarjung), Delhi Ridge and Ayanagar 1 each. HIMACHAL PRADESH: (3 cm and above) Renuka and Ponda 7 each, Dharamshala, Palampur and Gaohar  6 each,  Shimla, Solan, Dehra Gopipur, Kalka, Sunni Bhaji, Arki and Khandaghat  5 each, Bhuntar, Manali, Nahan, Kangra, Berthin, Kahu, Sujanpur Tira, Gular and Nagrota Suriya 4 each and Sundernagar, Una, Jhandutta, Saloni, Bhoranj and Nadaun 3 each. JAMMU AND KASHMIR: (3 cm and above) Kukernag 6, Batote 5, Quazigund, Katra and Udampur 4 each and Jammu, Banihal, Bhaderwah and Kathua 3 each. PUNJAB: R.S. Dam site 6, Madhopur, Shahapur Kandi  and Nangal 5 each, Pathankot and Malakpur 3 each, Gurdaspur and Mukarian 2 each and Amritsar, Halwara, Bhatinda, Dasuya, Garshankar, Adampur and Ropar 1 each.  EAST RAJASTHAN:  Pilani 1, EAST UTTAR PRADESH:  Varanasi 2 and Gorakhopur and Bahraich 1 each, WEST UTTAR PRADESH: Nazibabad and Sarsawa 3 each and Moradabad, Meerut, Kasganj, Khurja and Gautam Budh Nagar 1 each. UTTARAKHAND:  (3 cm and above) Dehradun 6,  Pithoragarh 5, Tehri 4 and Mukteshwar 3.

MINIIMUM TEMPERATURES: The minimum temperatures fell markedly in Punjab, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh, fell appreciably in Haryana and Uttarakhand, fell in Himachal Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were markedly above normal in east Uttar Pradesh and normal in rest of the region. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 02.7ºC recorded at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).

FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 21st JANUARY 2013: Rain/snow would occur at one or two places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours and mainly dry weather thereafter. Weather would be mainly dry over rest of the region.

WARNING: Cold day conditions would occur over Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours.

FORECAST FOR DELHI AND NEIGHBOURHOOD VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 21st JANUARY 2013: Mainly clear sky.  Fog in the morning.
