NEW DELHI: To enable high-capacity buses to ply comfortably on the high-capacity bus system road here between Delhi Gate and Ambedkar Nagar, remodelling of the road is being undertaken to segregate vehicles like rickshaws, bicycles, two-wheelers and cars. C & C Constructions Limited, which has been engaged by the Delhi Government to construct this 15-km stretch, said the uniqueness of this project would be the remodelling of the road to segregate vehicles.

While the foundation stone for the project was laid on October 4, company chairman G.S. Johar said the Rs. 129-crore project is slated for completion within 15 months. "Bus bays and bus shelters are proposed to be at the centre of the road near almost all the major junctions. This system is very pedestrian-friendly and will increase the carrying capacity of the corridor and would be integral with other modes of transport," Mr. Johar added.

The project has been undertaken by C&C through a 50:50 joint venture with B. Seeniah & Co. (Projects) of Hyderabad.
