Widespread violation of laws and norms has been detected by the Value Added Tax Department officers during raids conducted on the premises of various transporters in the Capital.

VAT Additional Commissioner (Enforcement) K. K. Dahiya said nine teams headed by VAT officers were deputed to conduct checking of the warehouses of transporters. As per inputs that had been received by the Department earlier, the official said the business premises of Sardar Golden Transport Company, Kohinoor Transport, Saurastra Roadways Delhi/SRD Logistics Pvt. Ltd., Saurastra Roadways Bangalore and Maa Annpurna Transport situated at Alipur, Nangli Poona, Daya Basti, Gandhi Nagar and Swaroop Nagar were raided.

“More than 500 goods receipts were seized at the spot during the checking,” the official said, adding that “bill books of four benami transporters were also detected at Gandhi Nagar godown of M/s Sardar Golden Transport Company.” The warehouse of this company at Dayabasti was also checked and more than 75 goods receipts were seized.

The Department said large scale irregularities were also detected at the warehouse of M/s Kohinoor Transport at Daya Basti. Here 259 goods receipts and bills were seized and the warehouse was later sealed by the Department.

The raid at the business premises of M/s Saurashtra Roadways Bangalore revealed “major irregularities” and 324 goods receipts were seized, the official said.  Two trucks suspected of carrying goods without payment of tax in Delhi were also seized from the warehouse of Saurastra Logistics Delhi.
