One Assembly session to be held there every years: Bahuguna

The foundation stone for the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha building will be laid at Gairsen, a village in Chamoli district, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, January 14, 2013. Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna made the announcement after holding the first Cabinet meeting at Gairsen over the weekend. During the separate State agitation, Gairsen, located at the centre of Uttarakhand, was sought to be made its capital.

Part of the Central funds, received for construction of the Vidhan Sabha building, would be used for the Gairsen complex and one session of the Assembly would be held there every year, Mr. Bahuguna said.

In other announcements, he said every girl student would be given a bicycle on her entering Standard IX in the plains, while, in the hill areas, the money equivalent would be deposited in her name.

A Micro, Small and Medium Industry Department would be established to promote Khadi, village industries, handloom and handicrafts.

To encourage faster industrial development and provide an investor-friendly environment, the Cabinet decided to provide a single-window facility to industrialists.
