Two more metro stations will come up near the domestic airport here on Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Janakpuri (West) to Kalindi Kunj corridor in Phase-III of metro construction.

According to a DMRC spokesperson, both the stations will be located be on an elevated section on the corridor, with one station at Sadar Bazar near Palam and the other one at Shankar Vihar between the domestic airport and Vasant Vihar.

“Since the distance between the already planned Palam and domestic airport stations and between the domestic airport station and Vasant Vihar station was about four kilometres each, it was decided that these in between stations will cater to the requirements of the local people better,” added the spokesperson.

The nearly 34-km-long corridor has several important stations connecting West, South and East Delhi. The extension of the corridor from Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden, Noida is yet to receive approval from the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM). If this extension is approved, the corridor will span nearly 37 km with 19.7 km of the line elevated and 17.28 km underground. There will be 14 stations on the elevated section and 12 underground.

The stations along this corridor are: Janakpuri West, Janakpuri C-2B, Dabri Mor, Dasrath Puri, Palam, Indira Gandhi Domestic Airport, Vasant Vihar, Munirka, R.K. Puram, IIT, Hauz Khas, Panchsheel Park, Chirag Dilli, G.K. Enclave, Nehru Place, Kalkaji, Okhla Phase-III, Ishwar Nagar, Jamia Nagar, Okhla Vihar, Jasola Vihar and Kalindi Kunj. If EGoM approves the proposed extension, Amity Noida and Botanical Garden stations will be added to line.
