Two mentally-challenged persons have drowned in separate incidents in the Kashmir Valley, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

He said mentally-challenged Rameez Ahmad Lone (15) drowned in a pond at Natnoosa in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

The body was retrieved and handed over to his relatives, he said.

Police also recovered the body of 65-year-old Malla Begum from power canal Kangan in Ganderbal district.

The woman was also mentally-challenged.

Meanwhile, the body of nine-year-old Muzaffar Ahmad Gangroo was fished out from a stream near his house at Soaf-Shali in Kokernag in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, he said.

Gangroo, a student of Class II, was missing since May 15. Since it appeared that he was strangulated, a murder case has been registered.
