Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

According to the police, a group of young Dalit men clashed with Jats during Holi on Wednesday morning. Ajay and Amit belonging to Jat community were seriously injured in the clash and admitted to hospital.

At around 8 in the evening, the Jats allegedly attacked the Dalits and damaged some auto-rickshaws belonging to them. “We received complaints from both groups and cross-cases have been registered.

Two persons, Revali and Dharmender, have been arrested on charges of attempt to murder and sent to jail,” said a senior police officer.

Some locals claimed that trouble started when the Jat youth misbehaved with Dalit women triggering the clash, but the police said the matter was under investigation and they are trying to ascertain what led to the violence.
