Vijender Gujjar, owner of the premises where five minor children were killed after a poorly constructed 20-foot-high wall collapsed on them at Dallupura in East Delhi on Wednesday, has been arrested along with a contractor on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The third person named in the case is yet to be arrested.

“Vijender lives in East Azad Nagar of Krishna Nagar. A hunt was launched for him as he went missing after the incident. He has now been arrested along with contractor Bhanwar Singh. A sub-contractor, Sunil, who was carrying out construction work on the plot at Vijender’s instance has also been named in the FIR,” said a police officer. Eye-witnesses claimed that Vijender was overseeing the work on the adjoining plot when the incident took place. The accused had earlier constructed 36 small units on the 1,000-square-year plot letting them out to poor families.
