New Delhi: An Inspector and an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police were on Friday suspended after they were purportedly caught on camera accepting bribe from the relatives of an accused in a cheating case.
Inspector (Investigation) Ramesh Chand Meena and ASI Bhagwan Sahay Meena of Moti Nagar Police Station in west Delhi were suspended for allegedly accepting bribe, a senior police officer said. The officers have demanded the bribe from the relatives of Kaushal and Tushaar, residents of Ghaziabad, who allegedly cheated a man of Rs.1.44 lakh in Moti Nagar in January this year.The duo had reportedly promised their victim that they would get him a luxury car for the amount and then fled.A complaint was made by tevictim and policemen went to Ghaziabad to catch the duo. They came to know that the accused were already in the custody of UP Police in another case. The Inspector and ASI then allegedly contacted the family of the accused and threatened to take the accused on remand and beat him up. They also allegedly demanded money but the family refused.- PTI
