Two persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from the owner of a coaching institute in Punjabi Bagh here.

Nimish Madan recently lodged a complaint with the Mianwali Nagar Police saying that he had been receiving threatening calls on his mobile phone and the caller was seeking Rs.5 lakh as protection money. The complaint told the police that the caller had also set his two cars on fire. Taking up investigation, the police arrested Virender (31) and Ravinder (24).

During interrogation Ravinder told the police that his friend Virender suspected his girl friend of having an affair with Nimish. Virender along with Ravinder then hatched a plan to set afire the cars of Nimish and extort money from him to teach him a lesson, the police said.
