NEW DELHI: Two alleged criminals have been arrested at Prashant Vihar here by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. The police claim to have seized a stolen Santo car, a stolen motorcycle and two firearms from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off that two members of an inter-State gang would come to meet their accomplices at Prashant Vihar on August 30, a team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia laid a trap and intercepted their motorcycle. One of the criminals opened fire at the police, which fired in retaliation and overpowered the duo.

They were identified as Vikas Yadav and Hari Jagdish. During interrogation, Vikas told the police that he was initiated into the world of crime in 2002 when he was arrested in an extortion case at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

His accomplice Hari was allegedly involved in five criminal cases.
