Tripura government is considering action against a senior official on charges of moral turpitude and forgery.

Action against Pintu Lal Das, Deputy Collector and Magistrate under West Tripura District administration, is imminent after a departmental probe reportedly found him guilty of wrongdoings.

Mr. Das was accused of developing illicit relationship with a married woman and both even travelled out of the State with fake credentials.

The officer is accused of influencing a few subordinate staff members to issue an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in favour of a woman with bogus name and address. The State Chief Electoral Officer has urged the District Magistrate to order a probe after the matter was brought to his notice and the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Agartala was asked to conduct a probe the charges. “I have received the report and sent the same to the CEO. Action whatsoever will be taken in a day or two in view of sensitive nature of the allegations,” District Magistrate Kiran Gitte told The Hindu on Wednesday.
