Defending the decision to shift the Delhi gang-rape victim to Singapore, Dr. Naresh Trehan — who was among the team of experts called in to assess the girl’s condition — has said “the move was aimed at stabilising the victim and not for immediate intestinal transplant”.

“Our team [from Medanta Medicity] helped set up an ICU aboard the air ambulance that carried the girl to Singapore. We also helped maintain her condition while on flight till she was handed over to the doctors in Singapore,” he said, adding, “I have never seen such brutality inflicted on any person. But despite her condition, doctors at Safdarjung Hospital treated the complicated case in the best possible manner.”
