Visitors to the ongoing “India International Trade Fair” were left high and dry on Friday when the ticket counters at Pragati Maidan closed down at 2 p.m.

The India Trade Promotion Organisation, which has drawn flak for closing down counters without informing the public in advance, has advised visitors to buy tickets from the metro stations in the city rather than depend on the counters at the exhibition ground. The organisers have announced that the counters at Pragati Maidan would close at 2 p.m. But this announcement comes with a rider. If one lakh visitors enter the venue earlier than the prescribed time, the ITPO would be left with no option but to close down its counters. Meanwhile, the ITPO has advised the public not to bring handbags because checking at the gates leads to wastage of time.
