No food from outside for Tihar inmates
Tihar Jail inmates would no longer be served food delivered by any outsider, even family members. The indefinite ban was imposed last week after the management found that the food was used as a means to smuggle prohibited items into the jail premises.
Earlier the prisoners were allowed to have home-made food at least twice a week.
“Now if the families want to send something for their imprisoned member, they have the option of buying packaged food from our own Tihar Jail Outlets,” said an official.
