Three minors and three women have been rescued from the clutches of human traffickers in different parts of the Capital.

The police have arrested four persons.

Three minor boys were rescued by a joint team of the police and non-government organisation Shakti Vahini from Paharganj on Friday. “One of our colleagues was on surveillance at the railway station when he spotted a boy, who disclosed that he had been kept in confinement,” said Rishi Kant of Shakti Vahini.

The NGO then informed the police, following which a raid was mounted and two other boys were rescued.

“The police have arrested two persons, Rajesh and Raju. One of the boy alleged that he was sodomised. He has been medically examined and the report is awaited,” said Mr. Kant.

In another case, two minor girls and three women -- who were allegedly trafficked into the country from Nepal – were rescued by the police a couple of days ago.

Two men, Ghulam Julani Khan and Abhikeshar, have been arrested in the case.

The main accused, Chakradhar, is absconding.

Two-day remand

The police have obtained two-day remand of the two accused for identifications of others involved in the racket.

They suspect that the victims were being taken abroad.

The minors were produced before a child welfare committee that issues necessary directions to arrange for their stay at care homes.
