Three notorious criminals have been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police for alleged involvement in several criminal cases, including the double murder at Lady Hardinge Medical College this past month. All three carried cash rewards on their heads.

A murder, two attempt-to-murder cases and an auto-theft case have also been worked out with the arrests. A 7.65 bore pistol, a country-made pistol, six live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle have been seized, the police said.

The three -- Vijay alias Notty, Manoj alias Kalua and Ashok alias Kala -- were arrested near Gopalpur traffic signal on the outskirts of the Capital on Wednesday following a tip-off.

Vijay, Manoj and Harsimranjit had shot Kailash and his father Subhash in Class IV employees’ quarters inside the Lady Hardinge Medical College campus on April 21. The father-son duo succumbed to injuries during the treatment later. It was revealed during their interrogation that Vijay had a long-standing rivalry with Kailash and his father over betting business.

Vijay, who earlier ran a cable business in Uttam Nagar, had shot at and injured his rival cable operator Sonu on two occasions, but the latter had escaped with minor bullet injuries. He then shot Sonu dead in 2010.

On February 16, Vijay had allegedly shot at and injured a bookie Moti over protection money. The three had also shot at and injured one Samunder in Burari on April 28.
