Three men who allegedly damaged a Police Control Room van and injured several policemen last month when the police tried to block their attempts to smuggle cattle out of the Capital have been arrested here.

The accused had also pelted stones and fired at the police party. However, nobody from either side had received any bullet injury. Following this, they drove away and the police gave them a chase. A little later, cornered from all sides they abandoned their truck which had cattle and weapons near Bhorgarh railway crossing and fled. A case was registered and investigations taken up.

During investigations, the police zeroed down on the Rizwan gang of Ghaziabad.

“A team of Crime Branch was continuously chasing this gang in Delhi, Meerut, Ghaziabad and Hapur but the gang members had been continuously changing their hideouts,” said a senior police officer.

On February 4, acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap at Patparganj and arrested three persons, who were later identified as Rizwan (40) Mohammad Aaqil (23) and Jaane Alam (21).
