NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested by the South-West Delhi police on the charge of auto-lifting. The police claim to have recovered over a dozen motorcycles, forged registration certificates and duplicate keys at their instance.

Two of the accused were arrested when they were riding a stolen motorcycle bearing a fake registration number place at Sarojini Nagar. During interrogation, they identified themselves as Nazar Ali and Akbar. The motorcycle was found stolen from Sarojini Nagar.

At their instance, the police arrested the third accused, Taslim, and recovered the other motorcycles along with forged documents.

Taslim allegedly disclosed that he along with other gang members used to steal motorcycles from different parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

He would allegedly get the forged registration certificates made through Pawan Gupta, a resident of Giridih in Jharkhand, and dispose of the motorcycles to Mohammad Naim of JP Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, Akram of Bijnor, and Mahun and Umar of Garhi Bharatpur in Rajasthan.
