Indira Gandhi National Open University has extended the last date for submission of applications at its regional centres.

Students can submit application forms by May 31 without being charged a late fee. If applications are submitted by June 15, a late fee of Rs.200 would be charged.

The admission process for full-time and distance education programmes offered by IGNOU has started. The university has invited applications for its Master's and Bachelor's degree programmes, various diplomas, certificates and other programmes for the new academic year beginning July 2010.

Rohtak-based Maharshi Dayanand University has despatched admit-cards and roll numbers details to students appearing in the M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. (Previous and Final) annual examinations beginning May 7.

The details of roll numbers and date sheets of the post-graduate annual examinations are available at www.mdurohtak.comand http://mducoe.blogspot.com. In case candidates have not received their roll numbers, they can be downloaded from the websites.

Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases organised a camp earlier this week on World Asthma Day. More than 200 patients were registered and about 50 new cases of asthma were diagnosed at the camp. It was pointed out that the lack of awareness on asthma in India prevented the ailment from being diagnosed in the early stages and of the existing asthmatics in the country, most were unaware, undiagnosed or being sub-optimally treated for asthma. Also adherence to asthma medication regime was very poor and tended to falter every few months for both children and adults.

To help asthma patients and their families in understanding asthma, the symptoms, its triggers and to remove associated myths a website – www.breathefree.com-- was also launched.

Raffles Millennium International will hold a “Raffles Design Open House” to celebrate its completion of one year in the Capital.

Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, has been accorded approval by a joint committee of the UGC, AICTE and DEC for all its programmes being offered through the distance education mode.

A State technical university, PTU offers post-graduate, degree and diploma programmes in disciplines such as information technology, management, mass communication, biotechnology, apparel and fashion design, hospitality and journalism.
