President Pranab Mukherjee presented the first annual Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony to the late Pandit Ravi Shankar at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

Sukanya Shankar, wife of Ravi Shankar, received the award.

The President said Ravi Shankar’s passing was a great loss to India and the world. His legacy, however, lives on and will continue to illuminate the world of music. “With the conferment of the Tagore award, we pay a tribute to Pandit Ravi Shankar for his enormous contribution to cultural harmony.”
