Environmentalist Sunita Narain, who met with an accident while cycling near the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in the early hours of Sunday, is reported to be stable.

Dr. Narain had to undergo a surgery and the doctors said she could require more corrective surgeries. The police have not made any headway in identifying the vehicle involved as there is no CCTV footage available.

“We have spoken to the victim. She told us that she was caught by surprise by a red car reversing all of a sudden. By then, her bicycle, coming down the slope, had gained momentum and rammed the rear end of the vehicle. The car driver did not stop after the collision,” said a police officer on Monday.
