A police sub-inspector has been arrested by the anti-corruption unit of the police for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs.10,000 to hand over an impounded car to its owner even after the court had ordered its release.

A senior police officer said the accused, Anuj Chikara, posted at the Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi was caught red-handed on Tuesday.

According to the police, the car was impounded last month after it was involved in an accident. However, on March 2, a court granted the complainant permission to take back his vehicle.
