Lawyers of all district courts go on strike
The advocates of all six district courts here on Monday went on strike to protest against the alleged attack on a lawyer at his residence by the police and registration of a “false case” against him.
The lawyers’ day-long strike affected judicial work in the six district courts — Dwarka, Saket, Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Rohini and Karkardooma — and only proxy counsel appeared in urgent matters to take dates.
Advocate Y.P. Singh, vice-president of Dwarka Court Bar Association, said lawyer S.P. Meena was attacked by five to six police personnel at his residence in West Delhi on October 12 and the policemen “misbehaved” with him and also lodged a “false” case against him.
