Commuters in Delhi faced inconvenience as some auto and taxi rickshaw unions went on a strike from Friday demanding a fare hike in view of the recent increase in CNG prices. There were scattered reports of autos not plying at New Delhi railway station and at Indira Gandhi International Airport and other parts of the city.

The strike by some unions was prompted after their demand for hike in fares was not met by the Government.

But only some unions went on strike. The Delhi Government on Thursday had claimed that a large number of auto and taxi unions had agreed not to go on strike from Friday.
