The police arrested a six-member gang of highway robbers who used to steal goods from vehicles parked outside roadside hotels.

Acting on a tip-off, the police erected barricades at Bhopura crossing and were checking vehicles late on Sunday night when the six accused were arrested.

The arrested were identified as Sajid, Danish, Lalchand, Kalu Sheikh, Dilshad and Lekhraj, all aged between 28 and 40 years.

“The accused would park their truck adjacent to the “targeted” trucks parked outside hotels on highways and steal goods,” said a senior police officer.

The police have seized two country-made pistols, four knives and a truck from the accused.- PTI
