The CBI has arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a tribal couple in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.
Bondru Pardhi and his wife Dodel Bai, residents of Chouthia village, were beaten to death by a group of villagers in 2008.
Following directives from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the CBI registered a case against unknown persons on August 21, 2009.
After a probe, six persons were arrested on Monday, CBI Superintendent of Police (SP) Yatindra Koyal said here.
“The accused were identified as Charu Narvare, Dome Lohar, Ramesh, Gajju, Jeewan Khakre and Ram Kishore. One person had already been arrested for the murders and a charge sheet was filed against him in a Special Court here,” he said.
The couple was killed following a dispute, Mr. Kotyal said, without elaborating on the nature of the dispute. -PTI
