NDMC raises support money for girl students

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has increased the yearly encouragement amount provided to over 1.85 lakh girl students, studying in 765 primary schools of the Corporation, from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500. For this purpose, a sum of Rs. 9 crore has been earmarked.

Leader of the House in North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mahinder Nagpal said that children studying in the corporation schools come from economically weaker background. Besides, he added, that among the students dropping out from schools most were girls and so the scheme would seek to ensure lowering of the drop-out rate. —Staff Reporter
