Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated three underground reservoirs and water boosting stations at Sardar Patel Marg, East Kidwai Nagar and Kali Bari Marg here on Saturday.

The underground water reservoir and water boosting station at Sardar Patel Marg is the biggest among the three with a capacity of 34 lakh litres. It has five booster pumps. This reservoir will be fed by the Delhi Jal Board line from Palam Reservoir and serve the areas of Chankyapuri, telephone exchange, post office, Chanakya cinema and embassies at Chanakyapuri, Sardar Patel Marg, Malcha Marg, Chandragupta Marg, Nyay Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Satya Marg, Shanti Path and Niti Marg.

The underground water reservoir and water boosting station at the Kali Bari Marg is the second largest in size with a capacity of 25 lakh litres. However, it has five booster pumps. This reservoir will be fed by the Delhi Jal Board line of Talkatora Reservoir. The DIZ area of Gole Market Baba Kharak Singh Marg Flat, Ashoka Road, Kali Bari Marg, Jai Singh Road, Pt. Pant Marg, Sansad Marg, Janpath, Rafi Marg, Raisina Road, R.M.L. Hospital Area and Maulana Azad Road will benefit from the water supply from this boosting station.

The underground water reservoir and water boosting station at East Kidwai Nagar is comparatively quite small and has a capacity of 4.2 lakh litres and provided with three booster pumps. It would be fed by Water Boosting Station at Jor Bagh and would in turn offer continuous supply of water to D and E Block areas of East Kidwai Nagar.
