NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court will take up a petition by the Students’ Federation of India on Thursday challenging the framing of a model code of conduct by Delhi University for the students’ union elections on September 7.

Counsel for the petitioner mentioned the matter before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice M. K. Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Wednesday that directed the Registry to list it before an appropriate Bench on Thursday.

In its prayer, the SFI had requested the court to hear the matter before September 7, which is the date for the students’ union elections.

The SFI has challenged the new criteria adopted by the election authorities in nomination of candidates that have left several posts without contenders.
